Many moons back I did come across someone's blog or I heard somewhere about Betty's Midwest Kitchen but I did not look into it further.. prob busy la..
Than awhile back, bronx who is always in the search for the ultimate pork burger read about andes in aman suria serving affordable and juicy gigantic pork burgers. We noticed Betty's Midwest Kitchen was just within close vicinity. Anyway we had Andes, I forgot what I ordered, I remember the interior was nice.. they had lotsa garlics hung up as deco and mirrors. Bronx and me were joking that they were probably afraid of vampires.. Oopss anyway as usual have rambled off topic. I don't have the andes pics with me so perhaps next time i'll blog bout it.
Well since Andes, we googled more bout betty's and oogled and drooled over the pictures of other bloggers. So a couple of weekends back, we turned up again at aman suria this time for Betty's.
The shops in Aman Suria is really small so there isn't much tables available. It was a full house and we had to wait for a table. But turnaround was quick so we didn't have to wait long, about 10 minutes or so.
Once we were seated, we wasted no time in ordering what we want.
Bronx had his eyes on the pork burger and ordered the pulled-pork burger.
Bronx's verdict: Portion is rather small, and prefers meat patties rather than shredded meats. Or see here for a better explanation of pulled pork http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulled_pork
My verdict: Agree on the portion size.. but I actually quite like it as it's got the sauce and all. Meat patties normally are too dry for me and I would have to rely on tomato sauce to drench it up abit. Actually pulled pork burger is quite similar to how I would sometimes clean up some leftover beef rendangs kuah.. get a piece of bread, put some rendang on top of it with lots n lots of kuah, top it off with another bread and nom nom nom..
Anyway on to my order.. I do not fancy burgers much as I prefer to fill up my tummy with meat, just meat lotsa lotsa meat rather than burger buns.
I got myself ooh.. can't remember the exact name but its something along the lines of beer boston butt..
Andd I luurrrvveee it... oohh the portion is big and reasonable for its price. The sauce is really tasty, the meat is so soft and tender and you just eat it without any effort. It would just break off in strips without much resistance when you slice into it. What I also lurve is the mash potato.. the gravy is awesome as it is mushroom gravy.. my favorite!! i likey berry berry much.
Oh and I forgot to mention, the food came really fast, especially the burger. Like what.?? 5 min after we ordered! Service was good too. I think we were in and out of the restaurant within 45 minutes.
Due to the limited space and big crowd, it would not be a suitable place if you wish to sit and chat.
It's highly recommended if you want to have a quick and hearty meal.
Here's a few pics of the restaurant interior. They have an open kitchen, and lotsa picture frames of piggies and places in America. Simple and nice with just nice lighting... not too dim until you have to fidget around to locate ur cutleries or too bright that your eyes hurt.
Would come back again for more butt n perhaps try their ribs next. Slurrp
